Revolutionising Flexible Film Recycling
COtooCLEAN is a cutting-edge, waterless cleaning process for polyolefin films (PE and PP) that uses supercritical COâ‚‚ (scCOâ‚‚) to remove oils, fats, and absorbed contaminants – restoring the material to food-grade quality.
When combined with green co-solvents, scCOâ‚‚ can also delaminate multi-layer films and remove printing inks, significantly enhancing the recyclability of these complex and widely used materials.
By fusing scientific precision with innovative engineering, COtooCLEAN breaks through the technical barriers to flexible film recycling – delivering a solution that is both technically robust and commercially viable.
Winner of the Alliance to End Plastic Waste’s $3 million Circular Solutions Prize, COtooCLEAN is now being piloted at industrial scale in partnership with Coveris. A UK-based demonstration plant is currently in development and is scheduled to open at the end of 2025.
